Bargara beach is the region’s premier resort with a picturesque, newly developed esplanade, complete with BBQ facilities and a playground featuring a giant turtle for the kids to go wild in! It has excellent shopping facilities and accommodation, first-class golf courses and a range of choices for the angler, diver or swimmer.
Kelly’s beach is great for surfing and swimming. It is 2kms long and includes a lagoon at the southern end. The northern end contains a man-made rock pool, commonly known as the Basin. Both are ideal safe-swimming spots for small children or inexperienced swimmers and snorkellers.
Elliot Heads is a great family destination only 20kms southeast of Bundaberg. The main beach is 200 metres long, but it also has a 2km long inlet beach that ensures safe swimming for children and the elderly.
Innes Park beach is a great place for swimming and rock-pool fossicking. Trees provide great shade for picnics, and the nearby life-saving club ensures a safe, patrolled environment in season. Coral Cove includes Barolin Rocks, a great place for snorkellers.
Nielsen Park is a great surf beach just north of Bargara with a surf-lifesaving club providing patrols in season. It has numerous picnic tables, BBQ facilities and a sports complex catering for roller-skaters, and has facilities for cricket, soccer, tennis and netball, which also makes it the ideal family destination.
Moore Park Beach has 17 kms of safe sandy beach only 20 minutes drive from Bundaberg. It has a shopping centre with Cafe, convenience store and several others. 4WDriving is permitted north and south of the township and also on the wetland reserve. You may see dolphins from the beach and can even spot the occasional turtle nesting or hatching.
Woodgate Beach is a slice of secluded paradise, one of Queensland’s safest, stinger-free beaches. You can walk or cycle the 6.5 kms of pathways tracing the foreshore, and fish or swim on the beach or tidal creeks and rivers.
Mon Repos beach is one of the loveliest in the region, whether for surfing, snorkelling or swimming. During turtle season it is closed from 6pm-6am to ensure the safety of nesting and hatching turtles for the Mon Repos rookery, but all other times, it is an ideal destination for the family or serious sub-mariners!
Oaks beach is 18kms northeast of Bundaberg just south of Burnett Heads. It is a small beach only 50 metres long but is excellent for snorkelling, fishing, rock walking or swimming. In turtle season a few stray turtles can be spotted here.
